Gilt Hill has finally been resurfaced after a long campaign led by Councillor Philip Owen with the Nottinghamshire County Council highways officers.
According to Nottinghamshire County Councillor Phillip Owen, "It was like something from the moon's surface, and now it is like a billiard table. However, there is still work in progress. We need to establish a central reservation to enhance the safety of children crossing the road to go to school. We have secured a continuation of the school crossing patrol person, and now we need that central reservation. Additionally, there is still a significant amount of work to be done to identify where the utilities go with the road realignment.”
Local resident Caroline Henry expressed her gratitude for Councillor Owen's efforts in resolving this issue. She acknowledged his dedication and determination, stating, "I know how hard Philip works, especially when he gets the bit between his teeth. I am confident that he will continue to press the utilities company until the job is done."
